Let's Get Honest with Lexi Aiassa

Let's Get Honest with Lexi Aiassa
Happy May! We are basking in the flowers and occasional showers & hope you are doing the same. In honor of Mother's Day this month, we are highlighting Lexi, friend of tbh, mom, and entrepreneur!

We wanted to share her amazing story, so let's #gethonest with Lexi👇

Q: What’s your name, and what do you do?

A: My name is Lexi Aiassa. I am a mama to my son Luca (+ 2 fluffy cats), a wife to a loving husband, a certified wellness coach, and co-founder of Snack Brands.

Q: Tell us about Snack Brands! What’s the origin story?

A: Snack Brands is a children's apparel company dedicated to creating a better world for future generations. We have big dreams when it comes to community, sustainability, and transparency.

What sets us apart from other children’s brands is all of our products are made of recycled & organic materials, all factories are fair labor certified and factory relations are transparently noted on the website, and our giveback strategy: for every two hats sold, one hat will be donated to a children's hospital or nonprofit. Starting with hats primarily made from recycled plastic bottles, we launch our first few products this month (May 2023). Another particularly special thing has been that our hat designers so far have all been moms.

With regard to the name, it was dreamt up when I was pregnant with my son, who I called “Snack” while he was in my belly. I was never much of a snacker until I was pregnant, and for those months I was ravenous. Thankfully I had my tbh, that must be why Luca is so sweet 🙂

Snack hats just felt right when we said it outloud.

Q: In honor of Mother’s Day, let’s get honest about being a mom and an entrepreneur. What is it like to grow little ones and a brand at the same time?

A: They are my two babies, quite literally. It is all an ongoing balancing act. I’ve never been so exhausted and fulfilled at the same time.

Q: In the spirit of being honest, what’s been the toughest part so far?

A: The identity shift as a mother. Every mother goes through it. Although becoming a mother felt like the most natural thing in the world, it also happened to be the toughest. It was saying good-bye to a version of myself I no longer held space for and welcoming a new version of me who is more powerful than I ever knew capable.

Q: What’s a bit of advice you can give to other entrepreneur moms?

A: Set boundaries. Set them with family, friends, and most importantly yourself.

Also, you need at least 20 minutes a day of dedicated “you” time. It could be a bath, a meditation, watching a show, journaling, or just staring at the ceiling. Schedule a time and make it sacred.

Q: What does your ideal Mother’s Day look like?

A: Sunshine, hugs from my baby + husband, and sand between my toes.

Q: What’s your big massive goal? Give us the biggest 🙂 and leaving this open ended on purpose 😀

A: We want Snack Brands to be a global name for parents and the future generation of kiddos. Our mission at Snack Brands is just scratching the surface when it comes to making the impactful difference we envision. Some of our first community events will be starting this summer. If you are interested in beach cleanups, meeting fellow parents, and volunteering, we will have so much more to come on those fronts. You can find us at www.wearsnack.com for more information.

Q:  What’s your favorite way to eat tbh?

A: Straight from the jar with a spoon as an afternoon pick me up 🙂
